UCC25600: Isolated DC DC Converter 400W design

Part Number: UCC25600
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC256303, UCC256403

Tool/software:

Hello Experts ,

I am designing Isolated DC/DC with below specifications . Please suggest suitable topology and reference design if available

input voltage : 70 ~ 135V dc  ( nominal : 96V )

output voltage : 14.5 V

Load current : 27 A

efficiency : 95 %

isolation : 1.5 KV

Thank you

  • Hi Vikas,

Our newest LLC the UCC25660 can support this. To get the efficiency around 95%, you may need to use GaN like our LMG2650

I hope this answers your question.

  • Hi JCHK ,

thanks for your feedback , i have couple of questions ,

can we use UCC 256303 instead UCC 25660?
considering 27A current need to use synch rectification on secondary , is there any LLC controller with integrated synch rectifier driver ?  Is any other topology (low cost ) suitable for this application other than LLC ?

    thank you ,

    vikas

  • Hi Vikas,

The UCC256303 is NRND and the UCC256403 can drop in with a minor BoM change. The UCC256603 is the latest generation which has the following advantages:

    1. IPPC - input Power Proportional Control - This makes it far less sensitive to input voltage variations causing  the burst mode threshold and over load power threshold from shifting as a function of the input voltage

    2. Self regulated soft-start - This can never be fooled into premature exit from softstart

    3. 750kHx resonant frequency - This can help you increase power density by minimizing the magnetics.

As far as an LLC with an integrated SR driver, not yet. Our closet option here would be a phase-shifted full-bridge UCC28950. This directly drives the SR FET's/

    I hope this helps.
