TPS1HC30-Q1: Measured Current range

Part Number: TPS1HC30-Q1

Tool/software:

Hello,

1. If measured Current maxium is 7.5A, which current sense accuracy range should I follow?

2. In I_out = 7.5A condition, Is it possible for the Vsns voltage to equal the V_SNSFH voltage?

Is the maximum sense current of this IC (6A?) , or can it be higher?

Thank you,

Yufang Chen

  • Hello Yufang Chen,

It should be stated that the maximum DC load current for this device is 4.5A operating outside of this can cause the device to enter thermal shutdown.

What is the ambient temperature of this application? How long will it be at 7.5A?

The current seen on the SNS pin is determined by RSNS using the equation below you can set the proper RSNS for the desired current. The table above displays the current sense accuracy and guarantees the current sense will be within those bounds while working outside of the parameters can be done there is just not an accuracy guarantee.

  • Hello Alan,

    Thank you reply.

I'm a bit confused. The maximum DC load current for this device is 4.5A, but the typical Application table states ILOAD.MAX = 6A. Do these refer to the same thing? Is this 6A a peak current or a continuous current? Even if it can be measured without saturation, it is 12A.

    Best Regards,

  • Hello YuFang Chen,

The typical application current is a peak current. What helps the devices current capacity is the ambient temperature. Do you have that accessible?

I can do a calculation to determine the thermal performance of the device at the 7.5A limit.

    Alan
