BQ25750: Power reset when switching over BAT to VIN or VIN to BAT

Part Number: BQ25750

Tool/software:

Hello TI,

We are using the BQ25750 part in our design. We are facing one issue in our board: when switching battery voltage to adapter voltage, the board resets or vice versa in full load. One more observation when light load this  issue not happen. Can you suggest which rasistor need to write to help overcome this issue?

Design details

Battery voltage_12V
Adaptor Voltage_12V

Current requirement_7A

Thanks & Regards

  • Hello,

Thanks for being patient with this. I'm swamped with work at the moment. I'll get back to your question next week.

In the meantime, have you looked at the FAQ for the power path switchover for the BQ25750?

    Best Regards,

  • Hello Vishal,

Once again, thanks for being patient with this.

The power path has a switchover protection limit of 8A. This means that if more than 8A is flowing through the BATFETs while the power from VSYS is changing from VAC to VBAT, the BATFETs will turn-off and try again.

I recommend connecting the BATFETs from VSYS to VBAT directly and bypass the battery current sense resistor. Bypassing the battery current sense resistor will disable the 8A protection limit. Make sure the SOA of the FETs is high enough to handle the load during switching.

Let me know if you have any questions about this.

    Best Regards,
    Ethan Galloway
