BQ25306: Battery remove & Similar products

Part Number: BQ25306

Tool/software:

Hi,

Looking for a battery charger for a 2 Cell Li-Ion battery back.

I allready checked BQ25306 and it seems quite useful since it has a programmable charge voltage & current.

Our battery should be able to charge also in -30°C so we need to ba able to adjust charge current.

Also "Power Path" from power supply to system is some how "needed".

Are there any other similar produst to BQ25306?

Is there a reason why BQ25306 is not on this list: www.ti.com/.../slvt145r.pdf

Are there Eveluation / Dev boards for similar products?

Also question about BQ25306:

On data sheet page 25 there is a picture of "Figure 10-8. Typical Application Diagram with Power Path".

When VBUS is connected it will supply "system" via PMID pin and battery does not supply the "system"?

However while VBUS is feeding "system" via PMID pin the IC is still charging and manage the battery, am I correct?

What will happen if the battery is removed and VBUS is connected?

"system" will get its power from PMID pin while there is no battery connected and VBUS is connected?

Whole circuit will work normally even the battery is removed when VBUS is connected?

BR,

JP

  • Hi JP,

We will get back to you on the next business day.

    Thanks,

  • Hi,

Data sheeyt says that BQ25306RTER is capable of 3A charge current - this all current goes to battery?

What about situation where BQ25306RTER also feeds power into the system (Power Path is in use) and also charge battery. Please refer this .PDF www.ti.com/.../bq25306.pdf
on page 25 "Figure 10-8. Typical Application Diagram with Power Path".

If battery is being cherged with e.g. 2A current what is a max. current that cen be feed to the system using Power Path via PMID -pin?
Lets assume that used Input powr supply on VBUS is cabaple of 5A current.

Is it possible to change bettery e.g. with 2A current and supply system with 2A current via PMID -pin?

What is max. current that can Q1 handle?

    BR,

    JP

  • Hi JP,

Referring to 8.3 Recommended Operating Conditions on the d/s, the SW output current is rated 3A.

Please refer to the spec table for the VBUS input current IINDPM_3A.

It's not recommended to connect load to the PMID. Figure 10-8. Typical Application Diagram with Power Path on the d/s will be removed on the next revision of d/s.

    Thanks,

    Ning.
