CSD95430: Current design derating

Hi TI Team,

Base on the spec as below picture showing, there are two specs for the output current, the peak continuous current is 90A, and DC(RMS) current is 40A.

1. We want to know how to do the current derating for this power stage?

2. Can it replace the part TDA21590 from Infineon, which max average load curent is 90A.

Hi Rick,

1. For current derating, please look at the SOA curves in the datasheet under section 6.6. For access to the datasheet, please reach out to vr@lis.ti.com.

2. TI recommends the CSD95410 as a replacement for TDA21590. You can see this from our cross reference tool.

Thanks for your reply.

1. Dose this mean that the Maxium DC current can't be over than the recommend 40A in the datasheet ?

2. The datasheet of CSD95410 which downloaded from TI website is too rough to understand, could you help send the detail one to me.

Hi Rick,

1. It is not recommended to go over the 40 A continuously. The CSD95430 device can support output currents up to 90 A for tp = 500ms, duty cycle ≤µs, duty cycle £ 1%.
