BQ4050: BQ4050 Abnormal shutdown discharge

Part Number: BQ4050
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO

Tool/software:

Hi Team:

Now, when using bq4050, the phenomenon of occasionally turning off the discharge MOS tube appears. After consulting the data manual, I can't find the mechanism of MOS tube overtemperature protection, and the default is to turn on OTF protection. I need to know how bq4050 can judge the MOS tube overheating and need protection, and where can I see these data?

    Thanks!!!!

  • Hello,

The overtemperature FET protection works based off the conditions seen below:

If possible, can you please share a bqStudio log file and the current .gg file of the gauge settings?

    Regards,

    Anthony

  • Hi Anthony:

I mean by what means does the bq4050 overtemperature FET protection detect the set protection condition and protect it, through the internal temperature sensor of the bq4050?

       Thanks!

  • Hello,

The FET Temperature in DAStatus2() is based on the configurable thermistors and temperature readings being taken by the device. In the TemperatureMode register, each temperature reading in use can be configured for either Cell Temperature or FET Temperature. The FET Temperature can also be configured to represent the maximum or average of the configured FET temperature readings:
