TPS27SA08-Q1: PWM High-Side Power Switch

Hi,

I'm looking for smart high-side power switch with PWM capability.

Is there any TI component that can easily drive 18A loads with a 10kHz PWM?

    Hi Mariglen, 

    The current is no problem. In general high side switches are limited to 1-2 kHz maximum. For higher frequencies you can consider using a separate low side switch, which has much higher switching speed capabilities) on the output of the HSS. This way you will have the protection features of the HSS and the PWM abilities of the low side switch. This technique is outlined in the below APP note in section 4.3.

    Thanks for the reply.
    I actually already have a high-side switch that meets my requirements, but it's from another manufacturer, and my question arises because I'm trying to reduce the cost of my board, so I'm looking for cheaper alternatives.
    However, I don't think TI has anything that suits my needs at the moment.
