Hi Team,

Customer is trying to design USB PD application with TPS25751 and TPS25730. So it needs to be checked if their configuration is correct or not. Also, they need to design it as standalone without MCU and EEPROM. Please check the attachment below and let me know if correct or not.

Hi Jeffrey,

I have a few concerns with this proposed design:

When both J2 and J3 are plugged in, with J2 being a power source and J3 being a power source, PPHV could have two different voltages. This will cause many different types of misbehavior.
If J3 is source only, then PPHV will likely be at a voltage above 5V when J3 is connected to a power sink (since PP5V isn't being used), causing a violation of USB-PD spec and an OVP event on TPS25751, thus preventing the part from working.
Without an EEPROM or MCU, there is no means to configure the TPS25751.

After digging further. this type of implementation would constitute USB-PD passthrough, which we do not support at this time. One of the reasons for this is that the implementation would not be USB compliant.
