TPS65070: Maximum output under "Min" column

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65070

Hi,

I would like to ask a question on TPS65070.

In ELECTRICAL CHARACTERISTICS of TPS65070 datasheet SLVS950C, the current for each converter and LDO are listed. However, I found that for all three DC/DC converters, the maximum IO is listed only "Min" value, whereas for two LDOs the maximum IO lists "Max" value.

Since it is about the maximum current output ability, I think it is more reasonable for all the value to be under "Max" column. So for the three DC/DC converters which has output under "Min" column, is it a mistake of the datasheet here?

  • The DCDC converters can output at least the minimum specified current, where as with the LDOs you cannot draw more than the max spec.

    Daniel,

    I don't understand this.

Even when the CPU and the system is in standby or deepsleep mode, does the DCDC converters still output AT LEAST:

    DCDC1: 600mA

    DCDC2: 1500mA

    DCDC3: 600mA

    ?

  • I updated my wording from "will" to "can" in my previous post. I don't understand your second question.

    Daniel,

It just reminded me of some unfavorable comments on Windows Vista memory consumption somewhere else. I removed the second paragraph, sorry.

Now each DCDC can output at least the below amount:

    DCDC1: 600mA

    DCDC2: 1500mA

    DCDC3: 600mA

These are in the "Min" column; But isn't there an upper limit? For example, not to put extremely unrealistic figures like 5A or 10A, but isn't there "Max" upper current limit measured, say, like 1.8A or 2A? I guess this must exist.

  • Zhao,

The max is not specified 1) because it is dependent on a number of external factors and 2) to keep the datasheet simple

The min is specified using either minimum or typical values as set in the recommended operating conditions table.

Please provide information about the application.

    What is the intended use?

    What is the volume/quantity?

Also, for which company is the project for?

    Ron,

Thanks for the explanation on max value. This question is resolved.
