Hello experts,

It seems BQ4050 supports fuel gauging, is this feature supported by a simple coulomb counter? Or does the IC perform SoC calculations then can communicate this SoC info to another external MCU?

Also, cusotmer is looking for IC with briefly below features, are there any suitable ICs with internal MCU that customer can use to not only do below features but also use the memory to design other internal logics as well?

features: 4cell, OVP, UVP, OCP, OTP, Short-circuit, High-side FET drive, Cell balancing, Fuse blow, communication, Fuel gauging

    Hi Jade,

    The bq4050 supports fuel gauging, and calculates the SOC using the Compensated End of Discharge Voltage (CEDV) algorithm. The SOC value and other calculations and measurements can be read out by an external MCU.

    Both the bq4050 and bq40z50 meet the features listed, however the bq40z50 uses our Impedance Track Algorithm, which is a more advanced algorithm for fuel gauging calculations.
