LM7310: OVLO while used as power mux

Datasheet mentions:

"In this configuration, supply overvoltage protection is not available on both channels"

Does this mean OVLO is not possible at all in this config?

Or would OVLO work just fine if I add a resistor to the upper channel divider network?

Hi Jesse,

If you look closely, the second LM7310's OVLO is being used to enable it when the first LM7310 EN goes low. So second channel won't have OVLO and only first channel will provide OVLO protection.

I am aware, but since the datasheet mentioned 'not available on both channels' I thought there might be a reason that the top channel cannot use it too. S
So if I add a bottom resistor to the top divider network, OVLO should work just fine for the top device right?

Hi Jesse,

Thank you for pointing this out, I missed that in the schematic OVLO is grounded for first channel.

Yes, if you add a bottom resistor, the OVLO will work for the first channel, but I will just add this. It will create a scenario in which first channel is off due to OVLO and second channel is also off as EN of first channel will also remain high. So both channels are off.
