TPS2H000-Q1: HTSSOP power pad difference and its effect

Part Number: TPS2H000-Q1

Tool/software:

Hello experts,

My customer accidentally drew a PCB layout with old HTSSOP power pad (PWP0016A) as shown in the attached file.

Package_HTSSOP.pdf

However, as you know, power pad of TPS2H000-Q1 is PWP0016J which is a little bit smaller power pad than PWP0016A.

If customer uses the recommended solder opening for PWP0016A power pad and solder TPS2H000-Q1 which has PWP0016J power pad, will there be concern?

As my customer's project is just before production, they do not want to cahnge the layout...

Thanks,

Kento

  • Hi Kento-san,

I don't see a significant issue with this, but I anticipate the possibility of misalignment when the device is soldered and the heat transfer may not be optimal because the J thermal pad is taller than the A thermal pad. I highly recommend updating the PCB layout since it is just a single thermal pad (no pins will be changing) and they have not entered production yet.

    Thanks,

    Patrick
