LM5050-1: Output oscillates when light load

Part Number: LM5050-1

Tool/software:

Hi teams,

We have read the following Q&A.

We have a similar output ripple issue as the one below.

LM5050 output oscillates - Power management forum - Power management - TI E2E support forums

Our issue is also to remove the ripple voltage at light loads.

We can solve this by adding an RC filter to the SENSE pins.

Q1. What is the upper limit for R1?

Q2. The value of R1 is 10-ohms in this QA, but please tell us what problems will occur if we increase it to, for example, 1k-ohms or more.

Could you help to get this, so that we can support to resolve this issue quickly.

Best regard.

  • Hi Takahiro,

Adding higher resistance will shift the reverse current blocking threshold and hinder the regulation voltage.

Higher resistor also means higher delay in blocking reverse current during true reverse current blocking scenario.
