LM5123-Q1: MOSFET Gate driver pin maximum current rating

Part Number: LM5123-Q1

Tool/software:

Hello TI Team,

We are designing a DC-DC Boost, for 4V input & 12V output with 200W output power using LM5123-Q1.

We are looking Peak current rating of LO & HO pins (MOSFET Gate driving pins).

We need to calculate actual rise time & fall time of switching MOSFETs. (And to evaluate possible impact on power dissipation with change in gate resistor).

Will you please share this data and if any relevant application note covering above subject,

Thanks & regards,

Aniruddha

  • Hello Aniruddha,

There is no fixed number for the maximum current of the gate drivers, because it is depends on the output pin (HO or LO) and if the gate of the FET is sinking (driver pin high) or sourcing (diver pin low) the current.

In the datasheet you will find this table which shows the voltage drop inside the gate driver for all these combinations.

This allows you to calculate the inner resistance of the drivers in these modes.
In combination with the nominal VCC voltage of 5V and the parameters of your FET you can calculate the data that you need.

    Best regards
    Harry
