BQ25713: ADC resolution and current ripple

Part Number: BQ25713

Tool/software:

Hello IT experts,

I have a question about the ADC resolution. I have been doing different measurements with the BQ25713EVM and everything works fine, but the ADC resolution is only 8 bits at VBAT, and ICHG is 7 bits, VBUS 8 bits and IIN_DPM 7 bits. Is there any possibility to have more resolution, like 16 bits? Which component can I use?

Another doubt I have is about the Iripple, can you specify the maximum ripple that we have in the BQ25713EVM in the ICHG current and in the inductor, because in the oscilloscope there is a lot of noise and I don't see it.

Best regards,

Antonio López Sanfeliciano

  • Hi, Antonio,

The ADC telemetry is chosen to be 7 or 8 bits for cost performance reasons. We has two separate pins IADP and IBAT which send out the analog signal of the IIN and ICHG.

Many customers tap into these two pins and use external high-resolution ADCs.

The inductor ripple and ICHG ripple can be estimated by tools, such as power stage designer. It is related to the input and output conditions. Sorry, I could not give you a number without knowing your circuit parameters.
