Hello TI experts,

Could you please share formulae or reference for calculating power dissipation of external switching MOSFET? So we can select proper MOSFET (low SW loss and conduction) with better performance and cost.

I do not see reference or particular section in the datasheet for the MOSFET loss calculation (Conduction & SW conditions).

As the MOSFET loss is highly related with the MOSFET, you can check it with MOSFET vendor, the mainly influence for a controller is the switching time and the conduction time. You can find it in the datasheet.

For the quick calculation, it can be seen as ton*IL*Vhead*fswitching for the conduction loss, for the switching loss, it should be 0.5*(ton+toff)*Vg*IL.
