TPS3820-Q1: TPS3820-Q1 problem

Part Number: TPS3820-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS3820

Tool/software:

Dear experts,

I'm trying to work with the watchdog TPS3820-Q1 and a NXP microcontroller. The circuit is shown in the figure below:

The signal WDI_UC is a GPIO from the microcontroller and RSTN_UC is the microcontroller reset.

The problem is, the reset signal is permanently at low level. I guess, the watchdog is putting at low level the reset signal due tht WDI signal is not sending from the microcontroller because it is not programming yet. So, I cannot programming the microcontroller because the reset signal is at low level. Is there any way to program the microcontroller without disconnect WDI pin from the microcontroller.

Thanks in advance

  • Hi Luis,

    Thanks for your question.

You can disable the watchdog. If the WDI pin detects that it is in a high-impedance state the TPS3820/3/4/8-xx-Q1 will generate its own WDI pulse to ensure that RESET does not assert.

    Hope this helps,

    Best Regards,
