TPS6521905: Programming options

Part Number: TPS6521905
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: USB2ANY

Tool/software:

Hi TI team,

Currently we are using TPS6521905 in our design, for programming the chipset we are planning to use

TPS65219-GUI  TPS65219 graphical user interface

Below are the queries that we mainly have.

1. As we are going to program the IC which is assembled on our target board, we just want to ensure that the outputs of the LDOs and switchers inside the PMIC are not enabled untill the initial programming with the required voltage settings is loaded to the NVM. Please confirm on the same

2. For programming using the GUI, can we use any default USB to I2C converter or any specific converter is needed?

  • hi ! From my design just finalized with this same chip,

1/ before initial programming the PMIC stays with all outputs OFF.

2/ We use the official EVM to perform the programming: TPS6521905-EVM and connect the I2C outputs to our custom board. I know that you can also use the USB2ANY. But I don't think that the GUI is designed to work with a random USB-I2C adapter, as the drivers of these kind of cables are not standardized...
