BQ78Z100: Battery Management Studio read device name via HDQ

Hi,

I launches Battery Management Studio that detect my setup, which include a EV2400 eval board, witch connect to our BQ78Z100 via HDQ interface. It can read out information including Device Name like below image:

My questions are:

How does the Battery Management Studio read the device name string via HDQ command? There is no such information in neither datasheet nor technical reference for HDQ to read.
Is there a way to operate in the Battery Management Studio to just set/get single item, such as set/get device name only? I found "Read All" and "write All" button which involve hundreds of read/write, which are hard to analyze.

Hello Winston,

Please use Advanced Comms Tab in bqStudio to read single addresses. See below an example

You will need to convert the hex to ascii format.

Here's an example with the BQ28z610 device.

To view the physical addresses in bqStudio. Navigate to Windows -> Preferences -> All global Settings -> Show advanced commands.

Hi Jose,

How to read Device Name via HDQ interface for BQ78Z100? HDQ can only read one byte address, however, bqStudio still can reae/write device name, which are not in the HDQ data set.

Hi Winston,

Also, I would suggest to put a bus sniffer to see how EV2400 is doing it.
