TPS65381A-Q1: Technical support on microcontroller and PMICS issues.

Part Number: TPS65381A-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS570LS0432, TPS65300-Q1, TPS653860-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi,

I am contacting you for technical support on microcontroller and PMICS issues.

We are planning to use the TMS570LS0432 microcontroller from TI in a design project we are conducting.

The PMICS recommended for this microcontroller on the TI site is TPS65381A.

However, we have used this controller and PMICS in a different project in the past years. Since the BUK9213-30A recommended in the datasheet for the FET transistor, which is one of the TPS65381 peripherals, is not in stock,

The BUK9207-30B was used as an alternative. However, in the current situation, we see that there is no stock for both transistors and their production does not continue.

Since the circuit will need to be used for many years when the project we are conducting is completed, the production life and stocks of the products we will use should be relatively problem-free.

Currently, we are looking for both a PMICS alternative to TPS65381A and a BUK9213-30A MOSFET alternative.

Accordingly ;

  1. Can you help us if there are products you can recommend as an alternative to the BUK9213-3A MOSFET recommended in the technical datasheet?
  2. If there are products that you think can be an alternative to TPS65381A, can you help us?
  3. There is a statement in the datasheet that the TPS65300-Q1 product can be a PMICS alternative in TMS570 products, but we could not reach the sample circuit or application, I would like to ask for help in this regard.

Thank you very much in advance for your help and I request your feedback.

  • Hi, Fadime,

Sorry for taking so long to respond I'll try to quickly help you here.

    1. You can use any mosfet that meets the requirements outlined in section 4.5 VDD1 – LDO WITH EXTERNAL FET . I will try to find a specific fet that should work.

    2. This is an older PMIC. the newest PMIC we have for MCU's is the TPS653860-Q1 but it requires an extra regulator for the core supply voltage. If the customer does not need functional safety then I can try to enquire with our non functional safety team and see which PMIC would work best here.

    3. If you are interested in this PMIC I can look and see who currently supports this PMIC. This particular PMIC does not appear to have any functional safety capabilities, if functional safety is not required we may be able to use a PMIC with better support.

I'll try to have an update on a FET recommendation tomorrow. Please let me know if you would like to explore a different PMIC solution, and if you need to explore PMIC's with or without functional safety capabilities.

    Best,

    Michael Herandez

  • Hi Michael,

Thank you very much for your respond.

For now, we don't have a definite preference for the functional safety .

Could you consider both situations separately and make a suggestion?

I would like you to offer 2 different best solutions with and without functional security feature.

I look forward to your respond.

    Thank you for your help.

  • Hi Michael,
