BQ25171-Q1: BQ25171-Q1 not reporting charged when set to 200mA

Part Number: BQ25171-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi All

We are used a BQ25171-Q1 to charge a LIPO with the Ilimit set to 200mA (1.5K), Vset 4.1V (24K) timeout 5hrs (100K) and no temperature measure (10K).

The charger sequence behaves as expected and fast charges at 200mA and then tampers current when headed to 4.1V. Reporting charging and recoverable faults perfectly (10 and 01 stat pins) but NEVER report charged (Stat pins both low). Current drops nicely to a value well below the 20mA 10% of the 200mA  ISET threshold but still reports as charging.

Any Ideas?

Many Regards

Tony Jay

  • Sorry, I meant (Stat pins both high) for charged.

  • Hi Tony

In your test setup do you have a current meter in the output, between OUT and BATTERY?  We have seen the resistance of current meter shunt cause problems with terminations on other units.

Also the output current can be monitored using the ISET pin voltage.  ISET current is a sample of output current, ratio 1 to 300.  Voltage for 200mA is 1.0V and for 20mA is 100mV.
