Tool/software:
Just in case you have purchased the EVM and followed the startup instructions only to find that the STAT LED flashes 1x/sec when the board is powered on:
- I received the EVM and S1 (battery voltage select switch) was configured with position 5 OFF, and all the other positions switched ON. The way it is SUPPOSED to be configured is the opposite: S1 position 5 is supposed to be ON, with all other positions switched OFF. I am guessing that the EVM manufacturer substituted a switch that has the ON/OFF positions backwards, or they installed the switch 180° out (think about it).
Another issue that is not disclosed clearly in the documentation is that the input voltage is "capable" of operating up to 25V. However the IC is a linear regulator, not a switcher, so power dissipation goes way up at higher input voltages. Unless you are charging at very low current levels, the input voltage needs to be kept to 5V.
