TPS61288: TPS61288 output cannot be 0V while IC disable

Part Number: TPS61288

Tool/software:

Hi Team,

My customer found the output voltage is not 0V while TPS61288 disabled(EN=0)

The Vin=5.28V and Vout=12V.

While EN=1, the Vout=12.5V, but while EN=0, the output still had around 4.9V

Please help to check the design and input your suggestions.

Thanks.

  • Hello Peter,

In any boost converter, there is a diode from the input to the output. In a non-synchronous converter this is really a diode, in a synchronous converter, this is the backgate diode of the high-side FET. This means that you will see the input voltage minus a diode drop on the output in a synchronous boost converter.

If you need the output disconnected from the input, please have a look for boost converters with load disconnect, see here: AC/DC & DC/DC converters (integrated FET) product selection | TI.com

    Best regards,
    Brigitte
