UCC28070 doesn't work well with ragged waveform input

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC28070, UCC3817

My customer designed using the UCC28070, but when they power the ckt from a small portable generator, which emits a ragged roughly triangular waveform, the circuit doesn't work too well.  Is there a different TI part that will work better in this application?  EAU is 2k.

  • Hello George,

I am not sure how well any of TI's PFC pre-regulators will work with a triangular waveform. I do not think anyof our controllers have been tested with this kind of input. Not sure why the generator has a triangular waveform.   You might try evaluating some of our PFC EVMs to see if any of them will work in this application.  You might try the UCC3817 250W EVM to see if it works.

    Regards,
