LM5149-Q1: Component Selection difference in terms of output current

Part Number: LM5149-Q1

Tool/software:

Hello, Team,

Our customer is considering to use LM5149-Q1 to their new project.

There exists 2 patterns in output current setting: 10A, 20A. They want to make the design as same as possible for both output current setting, and would like to know which component will be depending on the output current of the IC.

We think that FETs (Q1, Q2 in EVM) and L3 should be changed, as well as input capacitor because the equation given in the datasheet includes IOUT.

Could you please let us know what component should be changed depending on the output current setting?

Best,
Masaru

  • Hello Masaru,

Please fill out calculator spreadsheet in the product folder for each design and share with me so I can comment based on customers specification.

Not sure I fully understand what the customer is trying to do, but you can use the 20A version for the 10A application.  If you wish to modify the BOM, you can, by installing a different current sense resistor and inductor, all other components can remain the same.

    Hope this helps,

    David.

  • Hello, David,

Thanks for the quick reply. I will share the calculator tool to customer and see if they have additional questions.

    Best,
