TPS7H5005-SEP: TPS7H5005-SEP: COMP pin waveform required

Part Number: TPS7H5005-SEP

Tool/software:

Dear TI team,

For the IC TPS7H5005-SEP ,at the COMP pin square pulse type noise was observed at the frequency double the switching frequency. It was due to noise in our layout or is it design of the IC.

Kindly share any waveform at COMP pin for the IC TPS7H5005-SEP for better understanding.

Channel 1: COMP pin

Channel 2 : SW node of the forward type converter.

  • Hey Dinesh,

    The TPS7H5005-SEP has two outputs.
Even if you are not using one of the outputs for your converter, the device will still see the other output.
That is why the double the switching frequency is showing up on the COMP pin of the device.

Note that this usually is not the root cause of random duty cycle variation that your previous question asked about.
We have used 1 output of the device before and seen a stable output.

    Thanks,
    Daniel

  • Dear Daniel,

Kindly share any waveform at COMP pin for the IC TPS7H5005-SEP for better understanding.

  • Hey Dinesh,

We are currently out of stock of the converter I am referring to.

Does what I am describing not make sense?
The clock internal to the device is running at twice the frequency of what you are running your converter at due to the second output.
You could probe on your board the other output and see it switching.

    Thanks,
    Daniel
