LP5810: Practicality of driving multiple LED's on single channel

Part Number: LP5810

Tool/software:

If independent control is not required are there issues with driving multiple LED's with a single channel using this device?

  • Hi Joseph,

Can you please show me some more detail about how you are going to drive multiple LEDs with a single channel? Do you mean connect multiple LEDs in only 1 output, in parallel or in serial?

    BR, Jared

  • In parallel, 2 additional RGB units not pictured would also be used in this same configuration. So a total of 4 LEDs in parallel on each OUT channel. I require a high degree of synchronization which is why I'm pursuing this as opposed to one of our drivers with more channels. My main concern is current constraints of the LP5810 but based on DS everything looks ok, simply wondering if there are additional concerns to be aware of.

  • Hi Joseph,

I think it should be fine once you don't care about the consistency of the LEDs.

Btw, if you require a high degree of sync, I think the sync function of LP5810 also can realize it.
