BQ34110: Chemistry Tab not available in BQ Studio

Tool/software:

I am using EV2400 to calibrate my BQ34110. I have tried with three BQ STUDIO versions 1.3.54, 1.3.86 and 1.3.101. I am able to detect the IC and monitor the voltage and current. But I am using a Lead Acid Battery 12v 1.3Ah. As the default chemistry is Single cell series Li-ion I guess. I am unable to find the chemistry tab to change the chemistry. Also even after sending the unseal command, I am unable to change the series of cells and Pin control config parameters.

Hello Vikrant,

This gauge is a CEDV gauge so it does not use ChemIDs.

Do I need to calibrate the fuel gauge for my 12v 1.3Ah lead acid battery ? Or I can Simply read the current from the 0x0C register ? My application is just to detect whether the battery is in charging state or discharging state or disconneted by just determining the returned value is positive or negative or zero.

Hello Vikrant,

Yes, it is highly recommended to calibrate the gauge so voltage and current reading are accurate.
