TPS25947: TPS25947

Part Number: TPS25947

Tool/software:

Hi All.

i would like to connect two TPS259474ARPW in parallel in order to reduce the overall series resistor Rds on each item (two resistors in parallel) , the two items will get the same power supply in and will drive the same voltage out to the board loads, thus producing half the Rds in series to the loads, theoretically.

1.is it possible to do so with the items, there is an example on pages 44-46 showing similar set-up. i would like to be clear, the power in and power out will be the same on the required configuration.

2.does this configuration will actually drop the total Rds to the loads, or does it work's differently inside the TPS259474, (the reason i am doing so in order to minimize the voltage drop on the TP259474 to Half) is this valid, i need to be sure the two inputs will be tied together and the two output will also be tied together ?

please clarify on all the required info.

Thx.

NItsan.

  • HI Nitsan,

In page #44, we have given example of Active ORing between two different supplies. Your requirement is lower Rdson across single power supply. You can do that to achieve lower rdson across the IN-OUT and that will also provide you double the current carrying capabilities.

Yes, it will share the current across both device and provide half the voltage drop. Section 9.7 (page #55) shows you example schematic for your requirement.

    Best Regards,

  • Hi Arush.

okay  i will use the double TPS259474, dual/parallel configuration to reduce the series Rds to approximately half. thus, reducing the voltage drop to half as well.

    thx !
