LM2679: Buck Switching Regulator goes in current limit without any apparent reason

Part Number: LM2679

Tool/software:

I'm hoping this thread will help the next person who searches for this issue.

I ran into this problem after following the component selection guidance from the LM2679 datasheet.  Most parts listed were obsolete so I tried to find alternatives with similar spec's.  It worked in some cases but not others.

After digging around I found this thread https://e2e.ti.com/support/power-management-group/power-management/f/power-management-forum/728185/lm22679-goes-in-current-limit-without-any-apparent-reason
and then found some recommendations to download the Switchers Made Simple app which turned out to also be obsolete.

Finally I found the WEBENCH® POWER DESIGNER  and was able to generate the BOM for a working circuit.

It would be really helpful if TI could update their data sheet (last updated 2016) to point to this tool!
