UCC28950: Wide input buck boost converter

Part Number: UCC28950

Tool/software:

Hello.  I am looking for a buck boost solution that can do 16VDC to 60VDC at the input and 28VDC output @ 1kW.  I need the galvanic isolation from input to output.  Any suggestions?

Thanks

  • Hello,

Your inquiry has been received and is under review.

  • Hello,

I am not sure if TI has done a buck boost design that meets your specific needs.  The following link will bring you to TI’s reference design library search engine.  You just need to enter your input and output power requirements and hit enter.  The search engine will find designs closest to your needs and will give you hyperlinks to Gerber files, schematic, BOM and test data for those designs.

You should be able to design a phase shifted full bridge (PSFB) using the UCC28950 to meet your design requirements.  The following link will bring you to an application note that goes through a step by step design procedure of a PSFB using the UCC28950.  There is a link to an excel design file inside the application note that uses the same calculations so you do not have to do them by hand.   https://www.ti.com/lit/an/slua560d/slua560d.pdf

In your design you will need to select the transformer turns ratio for the minimum input voltage and max duty cycle.  This will take care of boosting the output when the input is lower than it.  The transformer isolation will help you meet your galvanic isolation requirements.

Thank you for interest in Texas Instruments (TI) products.  If you have a related question, please click the "Ask a related question" button in the top right corner. The newly created question will be automatically linked to this question.
