UCG28826: Can the secondary side use diode rectification?

Part Number: UCG28826

Tool/software:

Hi team,

The secondary side of the UCG28826 is recommended to use a synchronous rectification method for the SR Controller, but is it okay to change it to a diode rectification method?

Best regards,

Kyohei

  • Hello,

I have not had a chance to look into this due to other priorities and customer support.  I will try to look into this tomorrow for you.

    Regards,

  • Hi Kyohei,

From the UCG28826 perspective, there is no issue, but from the USB PD Tolerance perspective there could be as VOUT would drop more with a diode as a function of load current than with the SR controller.

My understanding is that the USB Type C PD standard has tight specifications on output voltage.

I hope this answers your question.
