Tool/software:
Dear TI Support Team,
We are planning to use the BQ25601 battery charger IC in our design and have the following setup:
VBUS Input: 5V / 3.5A
System Output (SYS): 3.7V
System Load Current (worst case): 3.5A
Battery Charging Current: 500mA
From the datasheet, we understand that:
The maximum input current limit (IINLIM) is 3.25A
The maximum switch output current (ISW) is 3.25A
Our understanding is that since the SYS output is derived from the buck regulator stage, the system load might be able to consume more than the 3.25A ISW limit, as long as the input power is sufficient.
Could you please confirm whether the system load (SYS) can exceed 3.25A, or if it is strictly limited by the ISW specification? If so, do you recommend an alternative approach for handling a 3.5A SYS load along with 500mA battery charging?
Looking forward to your guidance.
