UCC21520: Updated DT pin description to recommend ≤1nF capacitor on DT pin

Part Number: UCC21520

Tool/software:

Hi, you have an update on the datasheet regarding capacitor on DT pin.

We have 100nF on our design, what's the impact? It's mandatory to change?

  • Hi Jarle,

Thank you for reaching out to us with this question.

This is not a mandatory change, but a new recommendation to account for worst case scenarios.

The reason for the change in the latest revision of the datasheet is that we found around 1nF DT capacitor to be the most optimal value in terms of DT signal stability.

The other factors such as the DT resistor and the noise level from the system overall has an impact on this.

With a DT resistor not too high (<50kohm) and the DT capacitor placed near the gate driver pin to filter noise, the 100nF should not be an issue (not an issue for non-edge cases).

    Hope this answers your question.

    Regards,

    Hiroki
