BQ24230: CHG status issue

Part Number: BQ24230

Tool/software:

Hi Team,

There are CHG status issues on 2 use cases of no input power with battery and valid input power without battery. I think that CHG status should be high-impedance on 2 use cases, but the status is low(about 0.6V) instead of high-impedance. So the indication LED of CHG is turned on during this condition. Please let me know the reason why.

  • Hi Garrett,

After checking this issue, and please let me know as soon as possible.

  • Hi Jeffery,

    Please see my comments below.

For both use case 1 (no input power with battery connected) and use case 2 (Valid input power without battery) expectation is /CHG status will be high impedance and LED does not turn on. I have double checked this behavior on multiple BQ24230 devices and do not see the behavior you report. /CHG pin voltage is approx. 2.4V for only battery connected case and 3.1V in my testing of case 2.

Do you see this behavior on just one IC or across multiple devices? Additionally, during your testing have you measured OUT pin voltage?

This part has been released to market for an extended period and does not have a known issue regarding /CHG status output functionality.

    Best Regards,

    Garrett
