UCC21330-Q1: VDDB & OUTB are easily damaged

Part Number: UCC21330-Q1

Tool/software:

The customer are using UCC21330Q1 in 800V HVAC compressor.

UCC21330Q1 are used as half bridge driver as the below picture shows.

They find that VDDB are easily to damaged, then VDD PIN is shorted to VSSB.

OUTB will also be damaged, shorted to VSSB, but with lower defeat rate.

Every phase may be damaged。

Do you have any experience with this?

Could you provide some analysis directions?

  • Hi Fabio,

How do the supply and output waveforms look in their system?

    • VDD - VSS short damage typically indicates that the VDD absolute maximum specifications are being exceeded.
    • OUT - VSS short damage typically indicates that OUT has an undershoot problem that is surpassing the minimum specification on the OUT pin

Some waveforms of the supply and outputs will be helpful to see if there is a concern in the signals being measured.

    Looking forward to hearing back.

    Regards,

    Hiroki
