TPS7A16-Q1: TPS7A16-Q1 has burned down

Part Number: TPS7A16-Q1

Tool/software:

When doing JumpStart experiment, TPS7A16-Q1 will burn from 0V to 48V, the phenomenon is 5V output to ground impedance 150Ω, Delay pin to ground impedance 0Ω. There is no relationship between Delay and Vin found in the datasheet, is there any relevant information? Please help analyze the cause of burning, thank you.

The schematic diagram and test waveform are shown below.

  • Hi,

Do you have any actual scopeshots of the event? It would be very helpful to see the VIN, VOUT and IOUT profiles during the test and immediately preceding the burn event.

The DELAY pin is only to adjust the PG delay time and does not have a direct dependency on VIN to the point that it will cause failure.

Could you please also send me pictures which show the damage to the device/ board as well as pictures of an assembled, undamaged board and the test setup?

    Thank You

    Ishaan
