PD TPS65982 NRND TPS65987 is Drop in replacement ???

The initial TUSB1046EVM did use TPD65982, and when it was obsoleted, we replaced it with TPS65987. The schematic in the EVM user guide has been updated to reflect this change.

So can i know how about USB signals connection at usb-c connector to  TPS65987 to match old PD??

The TPS65987 does not have an USB2 data mux, and the USB2 lines can be routed around the TPS65987. The D+/D- lines are only connected to the TPS65987 if BC1.2, a legacy charging scheme, is needed. Otherwise, do not connect theses to the IC.

The TPS65987 is not a drop in replacement for the tps65982. There is currently no exact match in features from TIs currently offered USB-C PD parts. The TPS65987DDK may be the closest you can get, as it can support USB-C PD and DP, but it will not be able to support the latest USB-IF PD3.2 compliance.

I'm not sure what "Touch Feedback Signals" are, but the TPS65987 does not interact with any of the data on the USB or Alt Mode busses directly. It negotiates the port role and the data effectively bypasses the IC.

our plan is

1. to use the below architecture where Host processor there with display signals and USB 3.1 signals to connect with TUSB1046.
2. We are planning to use an ELO touch screen display where we need to feed the inputs by touching the display screen need to be feedback to the host processor via USB signals D+/D- it can be possible???   Please help on this can I achieve the feedback communication from ELO display to my Host Processor in this case with only single pair of D+ and D-???

1. We have tested with the EVM board below where the USB D+/D- signals are connected Via PD TPS65982 to external Elo display and achieved the touch feedback from display.

Hi,

The TPS65982 has the USB2 high speed MUX, but the TPS65987 does not have the USB2 data mux. So when using the TPS65987, you would short the DP and DM at the USB-C connector, and then connect them directly to the USB host controller.
