BQ76972: Understanding electrical parameters for PCGH and PDCG

Part Number: BQ76972

Tool/software:

I'm struggling to understand the electrical parametres for the PCHG and PDCG pins in table (6.8 Pre-charge (PCHG) and Pre-discharge (PDSG) FET Drive) when compared to the pin equivalent diagrams shown in (SLUAAF2).

What do the voltages (V(PCHG_ON), V(PDSG_ON)) mean/come from?

Looking at the pin equivalent diagram for these 2 pins shows a FET with a 30k series resistor, but how does this fit with the sink specification of 30uA (typically) (30k * 30uA = 0,9V)?

  • Hello Thomas,

The pin equivalent diagram shows a simplified version of the internal circuit there as further details would be proprietary.

What do the voltages (V(PCHG_ON), V(PDSG_ON)) mean/come from?

The V(PCHG_ON), V(PDSG_ON) are the voltages we expect to see at those pins when they are ‘ON’ to drive the PCHG FET and PDSG FET. The ‘Test Conditions’ show what are the values typically are under the conditions listed.

More information on the precharge/predischarge mode can be found in Section 7.7.5.2 PRECHARGE and PREDISCHARGE Modes from the datasheet, and Section 2.3.2.1 PRECHARGE Mode and 5.2.3.2.2 PREDISCHARGE Mode from the technical reference manual.

    Best Regards,
    Alexis
