TPS1HTC30-Q1: TPS1HTC30-Q1 Question about Max PWM

Tool/software:

The TPS1HTC30-Q1 datasheet specifies the maximum PWM frequency as 750Hz.

However, in other sources, the maximum PWM frequency is calculated by adding the Ton and Toff values.

When adding the maximum Ton and Toff values from the datasheet (200 + 230 = 430us), the resulting frequency is approximately 2.3kHz.

Why is there such a large discrepancy between the datasheet value and the calculated frequency?

Hello,

To consider the ma PWM value listed in the datasheet you should consider that there are more factors than just the ton / toff period that limit this.

For example thermal heating is one of the main limiting factors.

Please consider this app note and reference sections 2 and 3 for a more complete understanding of the max PWM limitations for HSS.
