LM5164: Enable pin question

Part Number: LM5164

Tool/software:

Hi,

I am using the LM5164 IC with 24V input voltage and 3.3V output voltage. The supply of the board is from batteries so when the board is in “sleep” mode this buck is off by pulling “PS_EN” to high. There is 2 Meg ohm total resistor (R1330,R1333) to the enable pin to consume less power in “sleep” mode through the resistors when the fet is on. When I turn off the fet the buck should be on.

My questions are:

  1. What is the maximum leakage current through the EN pin? (including temp change). Because when the fet is off I need to have at least 1.5V at the enable pin.
  2. Can I turn off the input voltage and supply 3.3V to the output of the lm5164 with external PS? this will not damage the LM5164?

Thank you

Maor M.

  • Hello Maor,

We do not have the data for the first question, but I can tell you it will be sub 1uA.  The EN pin should be greater that 1.5V when the Enable FET is off.

Yes, you can turn off the LM5164 by disconnecting the input supply to turn off the LM5164 without damage to the device as per the above schematic.
