Tool/software:

Hi There,

I have purchased a BQ25713EVM017 and can't seem to get the output voltage above 8.2v, I have attached below what I have done with the registers:

Basically I have a 3S Battery which should charge up to 12.6V with a charge current of 500mA. I have an input Voltage of 14V, please advise what I need to change in order to get the Dev Kit to work please.

Regards,

Gavin

  • Hi, Gavin,

The default 3S setting should get you to 12.6V.

Please follow the BQ25713EVM user guide on how to operate the device in charge mode.

  • Hi Tiger,

I have re-read the EVM User guide, I can't find the default mode for 3S?, Page 9 does not show that?

    Regards,

    Gavin

The default setting is stored inside the chip. When first power on, it loads its default setting.

  • Thanks Tiger!, I will give it a go!

  • Hi Tiger, I tried the attached and got the below:

My Main issue is my power supply which is supply the 14V does not draw any current and the battery does not go above 7.91V, all the jumpers are in the default setting, am I doing something wrong?

  • Hi, Gavin,

Your charge current is set to zero, or time-out by the watchdog. I would suggest disabling watchdog timer, then set charge current to a non-zero value.

    Regards,

    Tiger

  • Thanks!, I have it working!, Do you perhaps have the default values for the BQ25720RSN?, am I also correct saying the BQ25720RSN is the Pin to Pin Compatible with the BQ25713?

  • Glad to hear that. The default register values are stored inside the part. You can also find it in the BQ25720EVM user guide. That is right, BQ25720 is pin-to-pin compatible with BQ25713, with better efficiency.

  • Hi Tiger, I was hoping that you had another text file available that I could load into the device. I have laid out a separate PC Board with the BQ2720 but can't seem to connect to the device through I2C, and I tried to load in the BQ25713 file but it was missing the charge 4 option.
