LM70880: Thermal Shutdown

I am writing this because I have a question that I had while looking at the datasheet.

I confirmed that the TSD threshold of LM70880 is 175 degrees and the hysteresis is 15 degrees.

The maximum Tj value is 150 degrees.

Is the TSD valid?

Yes, the TSD value is correct. The safe operating area (SOA) for the LM70880 is between -40C and 150C. The thermal shutdown temperature is set higher than the recommended operating conditions to provide a safety buffer, allowing the device to operate slightly above the ideal temperature range before automatically shutting down to prevent permanent damage from extreme overheating in case of unexpected conditions or poor thermal design.
