BQ2970: Robustness against unwanted short circuit detection

Part Number: BQ2970
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CSD16406Q3

Tool/software:

Hello,

I have the issue that my circuit (which includes cellular RF) causes the BQ2970 detecting unwanted short circuit and / or over-discharge current and therefore disconnects the systemload from the cells.

This does only happen, when the pcb is mounted into the metal housing, therefore I assume that we are talking about non-conducted disturbance. Also when I simulate the RF peak current with simple switch on/off DC resistor, the issue does not happen.

As cellular RF produces very sharp high-peak currents of 2A, my power circuit is low ESR and I am using the CSD16406Q3 with few mOhms for Rds.

When I set the V- to PACK- resistor from 2.2k to zero ohms, the issue is gone. Any idea how to harden against OCD and SCP? Maybe putting a capacitor in parallel to the V- to PACK- resistor?

Thank YOU!
