Tool/software:
Hello,
I understand that the TPS2546 implements CDP-SDP auto switch functionality, while TPS2547 does not.
My question is - what implications would the TPS2547 not implementing CDP-SDP auto switch have on a design/system?
Best,
Jackson
Hi Jackson,
Thank you for reaching out!
I will look into this and get back to you by end of week.

Hello,
Wanted to check back in here and ask - do you have an update on this?
Best,
Jackson
Hi Jackson,
The TPS2546 integrates CDP-SDP auto switch feature in order to ensure that non-compliant phones can communicate data with host controller in CDP mode. These non-compliant phones can only communicate data with host in SDP mode and classify CDP as non-SDP mode and will not communicate data with host, but will draw charging current.
However, there are phones that when unpowered, will only do primary detection similar to non-compliant phones. This will trigger the auto-switch and these phones will be charged with only 500mA.
The TPS2547 removed the auto-switch feature to ensure phones are charged faster when powered off.

Aya Khedr
