TPS62866: About OCL accuracy for TPS62866

Part Number: TPS62866

Tool/software:

Hi Team,

It says about 10% OCL accuracy for high-side forward current limit. However there is no accuracy information for low-side forward current limit and negative current limit. Do we have those inforamtion? Let say +/-15%?

  • Hi Albert,

    Thanks for reaching out.

May I ask why would you need this information? And can you please provide the working condition (Vin, Vout, Iload...)? These will help us find the information.

    Thank you and best regards,

    Jingyi

  • Hi Jingyi,

The aim is to check how much inductor ripple  is accepted when in FPWM and smallest inductance. You know when NOCL is small it usually means that the device cannot suppport high inductor current ripple when Iload=0A. So the minimum value for NOCL is critical.

The working condition is similar to switching frequency, i.e. VIN=5V, VOUT=0.9V but ILOAD=0A.

  • Hi Albert,

Thanks for the information. I will check with other colleagues in our product line to see if we can provide the information you need.

    Best regards,

    Jingyi

  • Hi Albert,

You will be safe as long as you follow the 'inductor selection' on page 22 in datasheet.

For example, with Vin=5V, Vout=0.9V, Iload=0A, typical switching frequency 3.4MHz and recommended inductor 0.22uH with -30% variation, the inductor ripple current is about 2A. Compared to typical NOCL, there's still 1A margin.

Hope this answer can be helpful.

    Thank you and best regards,

    Jingyi
