Tool/software:
Application: Boost converter for cold cranking application as Voltage stabiliser
Test Condition: Vin=10V, Iout= 4A, Vout=12.5A, Mode: Skip Mode
Observation: HS FET is turning off and entering in diode mode. VDS of low side is not ringing, it means inductor has not discharged yet. Discharge current is flowing through HS FET body diode causing higher temperature rise and poor efficiency. What could be the reason.
In skip/DE mode mode, HS FET turns on only for ~75ns while in FPWM mode, turn on time some times is 75ns and some time 200ns.
