BQ25606: Detect charger capability - minimum input current

Dear TI,

I would like to use the BQ25606 for its standalone feature, but I would need a guaranteed 2A minimum input current (no SDP, no divider 3) and I don't think there is a way to configure the BQ25606 this way.

Would you recommend adding a USB PD controller like the TPS25730 in front of it? So that I have a guaranteed input power (5V, 3A) from the input charger?

Or there is another simpler way to implement a standalone USB power + charging with at least 2A input capabilities (1A charging + 1A system)?

Hello,

The input current function of our device operates by setting a maximum based on the D+/D- detection. You can program the ILIM pin to 2A when leaving D+/D- floating.

Thank you for your answer, unfortunately I need help with the "minimum" input current, not the "maximum" one we can set with the ILIM pin yes.

I need to detect if the user plugs in a SDP charger limited to 500mA, because my system load needs 2A.

Hello Damien,

There is a misunderstanding. We do not have minimum input current settings. It is always a maximum even for SDP. This is a standalone charger, there will be no indication what input is detected.
