UCC28070: UCC28070 - Current sense Transformer placement

Part Number: UCC28070

Tool/software:

Hi

I noticed a confusing discrepancy in the placement of the current sense transformer in two different designs using the UCC28070 PFC controller. In the 1200W version, the dot on the transformer is located at the bottom, while in the 300W design, the dot is placed at the top, which one is the correct one and why? thank you very much for the help so far.

  • Hello MM,

It does not matter whetehr the polarity dot is located at the top or at the bottom.

What is important is that the polarity of the secondary winding is oriented correctly with respect to the primary winding.
The dots indicate how the different windings are polarized wit respect to each other.

In both drawings, the polarities are correct.

    Regards,
    Ulrich
