LM70880-Q1: LM70880-Q1 PSPICE for TI issue

Part Number: LM70880-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi Team,

I want to use the LM70880-Q1 simulation file to run a load transient test from 10% to 90%.

However, I have tried several methods but have not been successful. Please provide suggestions.

1. I am using version 23.1-2024-S001.
2. I tried using the Modeling Application > PWL Sources, but it is locked.
3. I tried using PSpice Component > Source > Current Source > Pulse, but it shows an error related to AC and DC settings.

Thanks,

Charlie Lee

  • Hi Charlie,

I am using the same version of PSPICE for TI as you but I do not see Modelling Applications as blocked:

Maybe you can try reinstalling PSPICE and check?

    3. I tried using PSpice Component > Source > Current Source > Pulse, but it shows an error related to AC and DC settings.

What is the error that you are seeing?

Another simpler way of doing load transient could be adding a resistor in parallel with the load with a switch and open/ close the switch based on the kind of load transient that you want!

    For eg:
For a 5V out and 8A max design you can do something like this:

  • Hi Taru,

    Thanks for your reply.

In the image below, the modeling application appears in gray text and cannot be selected.

Regarding question 3, as shown in the image below, an error message appears: "The unit for the parameter value of DC is not in the database."

For your example, which PSpice model can be used as a switch for this topic?

    thanks

  • Hi Charlie,

You can use a simple voltage controlled switch:

    This is how I implemented.
